Description

Here’s a short video of Nate demonstrating tight-line nymphing with one of our Euro leaders.

21″ Fly Fishing Euro Leaders

American Fork Anglers’ Euro Max modular tight-line nymphing fly leaders are proudly hand-tied and tested for strength and quality in Utah, USA. They use stiff Maxima Chameleon butt section leader material and softer mid-section (Suffix and Amnesia) high-visibility materials in the transition and sighter sections to allow for better turnover, presentation, and visibility for maximized strike detection. Each leader includes a tippet ring to allow for easy changing tippet and not sacrificing leader length.

  • Adjustable sighter tracer barrel for quick sight.
  • Tippet ring hookup.
  • Handmade in the USA.

It is important to be able to locate your sighter immediately after the cast. If lighting or contrast is poor, this can sometimes be hard to do, and meanwhile, you are losing an important part of your drift searching for the sighter, especially if you dropped the sighter under the surface. Our Sighter Tracer solves that problem for you. This is a bright fluro orange, adjustable knot with about 1″ tags that is tied on the transition section, above the sighter. You can move this knot up and down the transition section to wherever suits you best and for present conditions. After the cast, the Sighter Tracer gets your eyes on the leader and sighter immediately, letting you get your drift dialed in instantly. It also doubles a very sensitive extra indicator that lets you spot the most delicate of takes.

Regular

Ideal for anglers inexperienced with euro leaders as casting and turn-overs are more difficult than conventional fly lines / leaders.

Hand-built modular euro-nymphing sighter leaders using top-quality mono materials to ensure enough mass for water load casting, but minimal diameter to ensure as drag-free a drift as possible and allow for proper presentation. Our leaders start with a 20lb (0.017) Maxima Chameleon butt section (various length), tapering to 15 lb (0.015) mid-section, to a 12lb (0.013) solid or multi-color sighter. They also include a high-quality 2mm tippet ring to preserve your leader with your various tippet applications over time.

  • 15′ Butt Section (21′ leader length overall)
  • Red & Green Sighter
  • Adjustable Sighter Tracer

Thin

Thinner diameter version of the standard EuroMax leader. The thinner profile is for those who are already experienced in euro-style casting, provides for better strike detection and sensitivity, and improved performance in windy conditions. The thinner versions are trickier to cast for distance since you have less mass in the line, so that is the trade-off.

EuroMax Thin leaders start with a 15lb (0.015) Maxima Chameleon butt section (various length), tapering to 12lb (0.013) colored transition mid-section, to a 8lb (0.011) sighter (solid or multi-color). They also include a high-quality 2mm tippet ring to preserve your leader with your various tippet applications over time.

Micro

American Fork Anglers’ thinnest diameter and most sensitive version of our EuroMax leaders. The micro profile is for those who are already experienced in euro-style casting, provides for the ultimate in strike detection and sensitivity, and best performance in windy conditions. The micro version is more difficult to cast for distance since you have less mass in the line, so that is the trade-off.

Very easy to see

I like to be in the water when the sun first breaks the horizon and this leader is very easy to see. Along with a few flies I purchased as well I had a great day fishing. I will be ordering from the fly crate again!

Great Euro leaders

I purchased the "THIN" leaders in search of a more sensitive alternative to the mass produced leaders available on the market. These are ULTRA-sensitive, use premium components and the knots are expert-ly tied. They are also easily cast-able but dont have the "sag" found in heavier leaders which can cause slack that is a killer for tight line nymphing. Well suited for beginners as well as experienced nymphers. I also appreciate the longer length which allows me to customize based on river conditions. The sighter is easy to see even low light conditions and the bright orange tag is especially helpful in faster water when timing is most important. These are my go-to leaders going forward. Great job THE FLY CRATE!
