Trico’s are a plentiful mid-summer to late fall hatch that typically occurs in the early mornings of each day. The best part is the spinner fall. It’s best to keep a hand full of trico spinners ready once the dying adults, aka spinners, descend onto the water.
Have had pretty good success with sizes 16 - 20 on smaller PA creeks in the early morning hours. Drifting these with a longer leader and most times with a double dry fly rig has paid off. Patience = payoffs.
If there was a dictionary with a definition of a Trico spinner, it would have a picture of these little beauties.
