These Micro Chubby Chernobyl’s are our favorites for tackling small streams and backcountry water. It is great for hopper-dropper rigs and takes high-fast water easily. Because of their small size these flies easily imitate caddis and small stonefly hatches.

Micro Chubby Chernobyl

I had previously been fly fishing using a "full sized" Chubby Chernobyl with good results. However, i just had a hunch that using a smaller (micro) version of the Chubby Chernobyl might be a hot dry fly in the smaller to mid-sized streams of Southwestern PA. After receiving the order, my first cast in a local stream provided immediate results. For the following 1 1/2 hours I consistently caught some nice sized brownies and bows with some serious hits on the surface. One of my favorite rigs for Rainbow Trout is currently a dry/dropper setup using the Micro Chubby and a Rainbow Warrior, both from The Fly Crate. With the help of some Loon Fly Dip the Micro Chubby Chernobyl rides the surface well and provides a great drift and presentation. The Fly Crate flies are professionally crafted and I have received my orders in a very reasonable time frame. Overall I am very satisfied and will continue to place orders with The Fly Crate.
