Description

This is a great attractor fly that’s used from the Rockies to the Appalachians! The CDC soft hackle collar creates tons of movement as it pulses in the water, and the heavy nature of this pattern makes it a favorite to use as a lead fly in nymphing rigs. It’s also a solid choice for late summer when used behind a hopper and fished near the bank or in heavy pocket water.

Just buy a whole box of em

The tie is nothing fancy, but these nymphs flat out catch fish. I’ve caught my PB on this fly and countless other trout. If I had to pick one fly for the rest of my life it would be this

Only one left

Bought three of these in a size 16 among the 17 flies I ordered. Tied one of these on Euro Nymphing on The Kern River in CA last week. Well tied fly. Nice large eyelet for someone like me with poor eyesight. Got broken off twice by large Kern River Rainbows. Time to order a few more if these.

Great alternative to Orvis, Fly Shops, and if you don’t tie your own flies

After having two weekends in the books I finally thought I would give a review. I caught between 60-80 trout mix of rainbow and brown along with around a 22 inch golden rainbow. I did catch some others in the 15-18 inch range as well. The flies seemed to hold up well and got on bottom fast. I would use the pheasant tail on point. For the price great alternative to Orvis and if you do not tie your own flies. I don’t mind supporting small fly shops if I need a few flies here and there but they are mostly between $2-$3 a fly like Orvis is or even more. So hard to beat loading up on flies to get the free shipping.
